Patchwork Style Hand Knotted Wool Runner
Patchwork Style Hand Knotted Wool Runner
This Brand New Runner kilim is a unique piece of world art that will enhance your living space. This Kilim design originates from Mimana, located in the Northern part of Afghanistan, an area suspected to have been settled in Paleolithic times due to the numerous cave dwellings discovered there. This kilim is made of 100-percent wool, and pure vegetable dyes. The knot count for this kilim is 200. This kilim has a multicolored geometric pattern. Story Behind the Art: This particular kilim was woven by village weavers in the province of Balkh located in the Northern part of Afghanistan. Kilims are known as pile-less, flat-weave floor coverings, which are achieved by interweaving various colors of the vertical and horizontal strands of the kilim. Due to the handmade nature of our kilims, the size may vary from as advertised by 3-4 inches. Regular vacuuming and annual professional cleaning will keep your kilim looking new for years to come. The majority of the weavers are women, who live in the villages of Afghanistan, Pakistan and India. The community also thrives from rug weaving as the local farmers benefit from wool sales, and the local artisans create natural and vegetable dyes for the weavers to use in their designs. The handcrafted touch of artisan skill creates variations in color, size and design. If buying two of the same item, slight differences should be expected. Note: Color discrepancies may occur between this product and your computer screen.
